How to add Google reviews to WordPress: 3 step-by-step methods (Gutenberg, Elementor, Divi)
· 4 min read
Got a WordPress site and great Google reviews? Here's how to show them on your pages in a few minutes, with the block editor, Elementor, Divi or a plugin, without writing a single line of code.

WordPress powers a large share of websites, including many sites for shops, restaurants and tradespeople. The good news: adding your Google reviews to a WordPress site requires no technical skills. All you need is a review widget and to know where to paste its code. Here are three methods, depending on the tool you use to build your pages.
Before you start: set up your widget
Whatever the method, the first step is the same: create the widget that will display your reviews.
- Create a Trastivo account for free, with no credit card.
- Connect your Google Business Profile: your reviews are imported, then updated automatically.
- Choose your widget's template and settings, then copy its code.
The code is a short line that you'll paste into WordPress. It loads the widget without blocking your page, and the widget only renders when it becomes visible on screen: your site stays fast.
Method 1: the block editor (Gutenberg)
This is the editor built into WordPress, the one you see when you edit a page without a specific page builder.
- Open the page where you want to show your reviews.
- Click the "+" button at the top left to add a block.
- Type "html" in the search box and choose the Custom HTML block.
- Paste your widget code into the block.
- Click Update (or Publish): your reviews are live.
Tip: use the block's "Preview" button to check how it looks before publishing.
Method 2: Elementor
If your site is built with Elementor:
- Open the page with Elementor.
- In the Elements panel, type "html" in the search box.
- Drag the HTML widget to the spot you want on the page.
- Paste your widget code into the field provided.
- Click Update.
Method 3: Divi
With the Divi builder:
- Enable the Visual Builder on the page.
- Click "+" in a row to add a module.
- Search for "code" and choose the Code module.
- Paste your widget code.
- Save the page.
What about the Trastivo WordPress plugin?
If you'd rather not handle code, Trastivo offers a WordPress plugin, which you can download from the Integrations page of your dashboard. Once it's installed and activated:
- go to Settings > Trastivo and click Connect my Trastivo account;
- in the block editor, add the Avis Trastivo block and choose your widget from the list;
- with Elementor, use the Avis Trastivo widget provided by the plugin;
- anywhere else, paste your widget's shortcode, for example in a "Shortcode" block.
The plugin loads the widget script only once per page, even if you display several widgets.
What about a WooCommerce store?
WooCommerce runs on WordPress, so the same methods apply. The most useful spots are the store's home page, product pages and the cart. Our WooCommerce guide shows where to paste the code.
Where to place reviews on a WordPress site
- Home page: a strip of reviews below the introduction to your business.
- Service pages or product pages: as close as possible to the "Book now", "Request a quote" or "Add to cart" button.
- Contact page: a few reviews next to the form reassure a visitor who is hesitating.
- Every page: a floating badge (Premium plan) reminds visitors of your rating without taking up space in the layout.

Common problems and how to fix them
The widget doesn't appear
Check that you pasted the code into a Custom HTML block and not into a "Paragraph" block, which displays the code as text. Also check that the page was actually updated.
The widget doesn't appear right away after a change
If your site uses a caching plugin (WP Rocket, LiteSpeed Cache, W3 Total Cache…), clear the cache after adding the widget.
An optimization plugin blocks the script
Some plugins delay or combine JavaScript files. If the widget doesn't show up, exclude the widget script from those settings, or use the Trastivo plugin.
FAQ
Do I need to know how to code to add Google reviews to WordPress?
No. You copy a code and paste it into a block, just as you would paste text. The Trastivo plugin even saves you from handling that code.
Do new reviews show up automatically?
Yes. Once the widget is in place, your new Google reviews appear without you having to edit your WordPress page.
Will the widget slow down my WordPress site?
The code loads without blocking your page, and the widget only renders when it becomes visible on screen. It doesn't set any cookies on your visitors' devices.
Is it free?
Trastivo's Free plan, with no time limit and no credit card, displays a carousel of 5 reviews. Find out what to check in a free widget.
