How to add Google reviews to Shopify: step-by-step guide (home page, product pages, every page)
· 4 min read
Does your Shopify store have great Google reviews? Here's how to show them on your home page, your product pages or every page, with the theme editor and without installing an app.

In an online store, visitors can't touch the product or talk to the seller. Reviews from other customers are often what convinces them to order. If your customers have left you great reviews on Google, for example because you also have a physical shop, you can show them directly on your Shopify store. Here's how to do it with the theme editor, without writing code and without installing an app.
Before you start: set up your widget
- Create a Trastivo account for free, with no credit card.
- Connect your Google Business Profile: your reviews are imported, then updated automatically.
- Choose your widget's template, then copy its code.
The code loads without blocking your page, and the widget only renders when it becomes visible on screen: your store stays fast. The widget doesn't set any cookies on your visitors' devices.
Add your reviews to the home page
- In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.
- On your current theme, click Customize.
- In the left sidebar, click Add section where you want it.
- Search for "liquid" and choose Custom Liquid.
- Paste your widget code into the section's field.
- Click Save: your reviews are live.
You can then drag the section to the best spot, for example below the main banner or just above the footer.
Add your reviews to product pages
Product pages are where visitors hesitate the most. To show your reviews there:
- In the theme editor, open the page selector at the top of the screen.
- Choose Products, then the product template your product pages use.
- Add a Custom Liquid section, for example below the product information.
- Paste the widget code, then save.
The section then appears on every product page that uses this template.
Note: these are the reviews from your Google listing, so they're reviews of your business, not of each product. Just say so near the widget, for example: "What our customers say on Google".
Show your reviews on every page
To make a widget appear across the whole store, for example a badge with your rating, add the Custom Liquid section to your theme's footer, if your theme allows it. With the Premium plan, the floating badge stays visible in a corner of the screen without taking up space in the layout.
Which template to choose for a Shopify store
- Home page: a carousel or a grid, below the main banner.
- Product pages: a list or a compact carousel, near the "Add to cart" button.
- Every page: a badge or a floating badge that reminds visitors of your rating.
The Free plan includes a carousel of 5 reviews. The other templates, all your reviews and your own colors come with the Premium plan, with no commitment.
Common problems
The "Custom Liquid" section doesn't appear
Most recent Shopify themes offer it. Check that you're in the theme editor (Customize) and not in the code editor, and type "liquid" in the section search. If your theme doesn't offer it, contact its developer.
The widget doesn't appear in the preview
Save the page, then open your store in a new tab. If your store is password-protected, enter the password first.
FAQ
Do I need to install a Shopify app?
No. A "Custom Liquid" section is enough: you paste the code once, and your new Google reviews appear automatically.
Do Google reviews replace product reviews?
No, they complement each other. Google reviews are about your business (service, delivery, customer care), product reviews are about each item. Both reassure visitors.
Is it free?
Trastivo's Free plan, with no time limit and no credit card, displays a carousel of 5 reviews. Find out what to check in a free widget.
